I was thinking about married life this morning. As of a couple of days ago, Jonathan and I have been married for 4 months! And it's been the best 4 months ever. Sometimes I feel we've been married shorter than that, but most of the time I feel like it's been much longer. And we thank our lucky stars that the transition from single to married life was very comfortable (if not easy) for us. But in the grand scheme of things, we are still just two young kids barely starting out!
For fun, here are some things I have noticed over the past 4 months:
You Know You're a Newlywed When...
1. You still count how long you've been married in weeks.
Don't worry guys, I stopped doing that a long time ago. But in case you were wondering, we've been married for 18 weeks tomorrow....just sayin.
2. You have an expensive, new KitchenAid sitting on your counter top but you don't own a single pot larger than a saucepan.
Very frustrating sometimes. However KitchenAids are the BEST!
3. People ask if you are newlyweds because they noticed you looking at your ring during Sunday School.
Oops. I swear I didn't know I was doing that haha.
4. The only decorations you have are countless pictures from engagements/bridals photoshoots and the wedding.
Who wants to have pictures of themselves hanging everywhere?! Especially when you are wearing the same outfits over and over again = tacky.
5. People mistake you for your husband's little sister.
This has happened to me SO many times. I guess it's true what people say about couples starting to look like each other! We even had a guy in our ward try to set Jonathan up with his single daughter while I was standing right there. I guess he didn't hear the introduction, "...and this is my wife."
6. You pay for all of your groceries with giftcards.
Registered at Walmart. Boom, baby!
7. You have a beautiful wood bed frame and a queen size memory foam mattress, but you still have all of your clothes packed in suitcases because you can't afford to buy a dresser.
You either have super nice things, or really crappy things. That's the way it goes.
8. You and your husband go to bed at 9:00 just because you CAN!
No more staying up until curfew! Yay sleep.
9. You move into someone's basement to save money.
Whether that be the parents', in-laws', or some random person's basement, it's all the same.
10. You realize that you have started to let yourself go, because guess what? You're already married!
But then you realize that the last time you worked out was before the wedding and you are now in desperate need of a gym membership. Whoops.
So yeah, all of those and many more things have happened to us :) Now back to what we've been doing this past month-- We have moved into my in-laws' basement! Yup, we are those guys now. But like I said, that's the way to live the "newlywed lifestyle" nowadays. Seriously though, we are so blessed that Jonathan's parents have moved to Lehi, Utah and offered for us to live with them. We can't thank you enough! It is actually a really nice little basement apartment. Well, it's not that little. It has the biggest basement kitchen I have ever seen!
Here are some pictures (specifically for my parentals who want to see where we live):
Here is our beautiful bed we are so proud of. That is really the only thing worth showing from the bedroom so there you go.
Basically we realized that we have been immensely blessed and we will have to take a huge step-down to wherever we are going to live next haha. But we are loving it here and will probably stay for a year or two :)
Oh and here is a little shout-out thanks to my Mom who sent us a few holiday decorations! I absolutely love them and can't wait to accumulate more over the years! Thanks Mommy.
Yay for Fall and Happy Halloween everyone!
Wow! What a nice place! I LOVE IT! Happy 4 month anniversary! The time will fly :) Love you guys! Can't wait to see you soon! Love ya!
